Band Program

St. Ann’s band program is growing strong! The band has participated in the Diocesan Band Festival and has received the highest rating of “Superior” for the past 3 years. This year the band will be performing at our 2 school concerts, as well as a performance at a local nursing home. Students are enrolled in beginning band or advanced band depending on their skill level.

Beginning students have small group classes for 30 minutes, once a week. Advanced students have small group classes for 30 minutes, as well as a 45 minute after-school full band rehearsal once a week.   The bands are directed by Laura Scheidt, a cum laude  graduate of George Mason University. She has her Bachelor’s degree in Instrumental Music Education and has been teaching in the Catholic schools since she graduated in 2007.  Laura started playing clarinet when she was in 4th grade in upstate New York.  She continued through college and she still performs with the Fairfax Wind Symphony.  She is passionate about bringing the benefits and joys of music education to students and is thrilled to be at St. Ann’s for another year!
