Saint Ann Preschool is a hands-on-learning environment designed to provide a happy transition from home to school. In partnership with parents and in an atmosphere of Christian love and kindness, the program strives to develop a child’s positive self-image. Recognizing that children grow and learn at individual rates, a multi-sensory approach is used to allow children to experience success according to their own needs and development.
Learning centers, such as arts/crafts, blocks, dramatic play, and manipulatives, foster the development of the whole child and provide opportunities for the child to learn through play. The curriculum is based on the Virginia Foundation Blocks for Early Learning Comprehensive Standards as adapted by the Diocese of Arlington to include Religion. To enhance the curriculum, the Preschool uses Religion Seeds program, LabLearner Science, Handwriting Without Tears, Words Their Way Letter and Picture Sorts, and Scholastic Weekly Reader. The Preschool children attend weekly specials classes which include art, computer, library, physical education, and music.
