Librarian/Assistant to the Principal
Hello! I am Marie Scheessele, and I am excited to be a part of Saint Ann Catholic School as the librarian and Assistant to the Principal. As an educator in the Diocese of Arlington, I have taught third and fifth grades as well as middle school language arts and social studies. In addition, I served as the Assistant Principal at St. Thomas More School for three years. I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s of Art in Speech Communication from Purdue University and Ball State University respectively. My teaching certification is also from Ball State while my MEd in Catholic School Leadership and Administration is from Marymount University.
I grew up in Rockport, Indiana, with four brothers, and we attended St. Bernard School and Parish. When I moved to Northern Virginia, I adopted St. Dominic Church in Washington, DC, as my parish because the community there reminds me of St. Bernard’s. As a member of St. Dominic’s, I participate in S.O.M.E., coordinate the Books for Kids program, and serve as an Extraordinary Minister. In the past, I have also participated in community outreach programs for Del Ray Artisans and the former Springwater Fiber Arts Workshop. My interests include reading, music, weather, and history. I satisfy my history interests by working part-time as a museum aide at Fort Ward Museum. I enjoy running and baseball. Go Pittsburgh Pirates! Go Nationals! Most of all, I value and appreciate the time I get to spend with my family and friends.
