Mrs. Luisa Bonaguro Acosta
Spanish Teacher
Full Biography
My name is Luisa Bonaguro. I was born and raised in Venezuela, so Spanish is my native language. My school years were in a Catholic School. Later, I studied at the Andrés Bello Catholic University and got a Bachelor’s degree in Literature, and did graduate work in Education.
I worked for ten years as a teacher and educational coordinator of the Art and Cultural Department at Saint Ignatius School in Caracas. I developed a curriculum and educational materials, and worked directly with students, parents, teachers, and school administrators.
I married a U.S. Foreign Service officer and we moved to Asmara, Eritrea. Later we lived in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. I worked designing and developing programs designed to create a more positive environment for children and to teach women specific job skills. More recently, I worked in non-profit organizations helping low-income students struggling at school and facing challenges staying in school. At the same time, I updated my skills by obtaining a graduate certificate from George Washington University in technology applied to education.
